Government announces BRIDGE initiative to support hurricane Melissa recovery

The government will be rolling out the Building Resilience and Inspiring Development through a Guided Experience (BRIDGE) initiative to support recovery efforts in communities impacted severely by hurricane Melissa.
BRIDGE will equip 200 unemployed individuals ages 18 to 25 from St. Elizabeth, Westmoreland, St. James and Hanover with practical construction skills through guided work experience on active reconstruction sites.
Minister of Education and Youth, Dr. Dana Morris Dixon said the training will be delivered through the HEART/NSTA Trust.
She said trainees will receive a stipend of $65,000 monthly.
