Government says it remains committed to imposing balance of fare increase soon

Taxi operators are being assured that the government remains committed to imposing the balance of the fare increase soon.
The operators are due another 16 percent increase.
Transport Minister Daryl Vaz acknowledged the concerns of taxi operators, about high operational costs, especially with fuel, in the wake of ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
He said the issue remains at the top of the agenda.
He said the matter is being discussed at Cabinet and that an update will be given within 4 weeks.
He was speaking last evening at the virtual meeting of the Transport Operators Development Sustainable Services, (TODSS).
