Health minister says efforts underway to complete construction of the Western Children and Adolescent Hospital
Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton says efforts are being made to have the construction of the Western Children and Adolescent Hospital completed this year.
However, he discloses that there are some contractor related issues.
Ground was broken on the Cornwall Regional Hospital compound in St. James, in October 2019 for the 43 million US dollar project.
The facility is a gift from the Chinese government and is a two hundred and twenty-bed, seven floor complex with a sixty-room resident facility for health professionals.
Dr. Tufton states that the contractors are engaged by China.
Meantime, more than a thousand staff will be needed for the new hospital.
With workers being brought in over time, the health minister states that some key staffing appointments have been made with a Chief Executive Officer, Senior Medical Officer and Head of Human Resources in place.
