High-level investigation underway following discovery of two illegal parcels of cocaine at CTOC

The Jamaica Constabulary Force says a secondary high-level investigation is underway following the discovery of two illegal parcels of cocaine within the storage facilities of the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigations Branch (CTOC) this week.

This comes as investigations continue into the arrest and charge of Police Inspector Martin Walker following the seizure of 5 point 8 kilograms of cocaine on January 8.

The JCF says the latest discovery was made after Head of the Crime and Security Portfolio, Deputy Commissioner of Police Richard Stewart, ordered a comprehensive audit of CTOC’s storage facilities.

The illicit drug was found in breach of established protocols.

Following the discovery, detectives assigned to the Firearm and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID) were immediately contacted to commence an investigation .

Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police Dr. Kevin Blake has ordered the immediate removal of FNID from the oversight of CTOC.

The JCF High Command has also given its full support to FNID as it carries out the probe.
