Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness says focus must be placed on building a new, stronger economy, for the parishes hardest hit by Hurricane Melissa.
He was speaking at the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management, ODPEM’s, building supplies handing over ceremony in Luana St. Elizabeth, today.
St. Elizabeth is among western parishes which suffered significant damage during the passage of Hurricane Melissa last october.
Dr holness said the western end of the island has long been crying out for massive investments.
He cited tourism and agriculture as sectors to be invested in.
The prime minister also noted that the government will introduce technology to make the agriculture sector more robust and enduring.
