INDECOM probing 3 separate fatal shootings in St. James, St. Catherine and Kingston

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is investigating 3 separate fatal shooting incidents which occurred in the last 24 hours.

The latest incident, which took place in Spanish Town, St. Catherine today, resulted in the death of 30-year-old Demmar Walker.

Police alleged that Walker engaged officers with a firearm, which led to him being shot dead.

A firearm was stated as recovered from the scene.

The other two incidents occurred yesterday.

Twenty three year old Teddy Heath was fatally shot on Payne Avenue in Kingston and 18-year-old Carl Parks died after being shot in Barrett Town in St. James.

In the first incident, the police reported that a team was on operation in Payne Land.

Further reports are that officers approached a premises and explosions were heard from inside after they identified themselves.

An officer reported firing his weapon, which resulted in the death of Mr. Heath.

A firearm was stated as recovered from the incident scene.

In the St. James incident, police said they responded to a report of burglary at a premises and Parks allegedly attacked an officer with a hammer.

In response, another officer fired at Mr. Parks.

He was pronounced dead at hospital.

INDECOM said probes have commenced into the incidents.
