inDrive taxi operator fatally shot by police

An inDrive taxi operator was fatally shot by police along Walkers Avenue in Portmore, St. Catherine, this morning.

Dead is 47-year-old Dwayne Brown of the community.

Police say at about 12:30am, Brown engaged them in an armed confrontation.

Further reports are that Brown sustained wounds and was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say a Taurus pistol with 4 rounds was seized following the incident.

The Independent Commission of Investigations, Indecom, is probing the matter.
