Organisers of the inaugural Jamaica Woodland Festival are banking on a combination of nature and Jamaican culture to bring them success when it takes place on April 26 at Pearly Beach, located on the outskirts of Ocho Rios.

David Anderson, a director for the show, says it is all systems go for the event which he and his partners hope will attract Jamaicans and tourists to Pearly Beach, a scenic venue that has become popular with Jamaicans looking to escape the hustle of the capital, Kingston.

“We believe April will be the best month to host this event and Ocho Rios, as a tourist hub, is an ideal location where people normally travel to enjoy themselves. It is also easy access to visitors and locals,” Anderson explained in an interview with Loop News.

Bushman, Turbulence, Warrior King and Jah Bouks, Jahbar I and Derajah are confirmed for the Jamaican Woodland Festival, which will also highlight the country’s world-famous cuisine.

“The event will be depicting our (Jamaica’s) motto, Out of Many, One People, through performances, food and that oneness we Jamaicans are good at. By choosing a diverse cast, organisers not only enrich the artistic and cultural scope of the festival but also contribute to social cohesion and innovation,” Anderson stated.

The Jamaican Woodland Festival is the latest live event based in the vicinity of Ocho Rios. Others include Rebel Salute festival and Intimate, which stars Beres Hammond and Buju Banton.
