Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) has announced Jamaica’s team for the 52nd Carifta Games, scheduled for April 19-21 in Trinidad and Tobago. The squad includes sprinters Gary Card, Sabrina Dockery, and Shanoya Douglas.

The JAAA said an additional male and female multi-event athlete would be selected based on results from the Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships, scheduled for March 25-29. The winners of the girls’ heptathlon and boys’ decathlon will be added to the team.

Athletes were selected following the Carifta Trials, which took place from February 28 to March 2 at GC Foster College in Spanish Town.

Jamaica will be seeking their 39th consecutive Carifta Games title and 47th overall since the event's inception. Their last defeat dates back to 1984 when the Bahamas emerged victorious at home.

At last year’s Games in Grenada, Jamaica dominated the medal table, securing 84 medals, including 45 gold, 23 silver, and 16 bronze.

Card, representing Wolmer’s Boys, is a strong contender for gold in the Under-20 100m and will also compete in the 4x100m relay. Dockery will contest the Under-20 100m, 200m, and 4x100m, while Douglas joins her in the girls’ sprint events.

Calabar’s Shaquane Gordon will accompany Card in the Under-20 Boys’ 100m and will also race in the sprint hurdles alongside Kingston College’s (KC) Daniel Clarke, who clocked a brilliant 13.06 seconds to win at the Carifta Trials.

Tahj-Marques White and Marcinho Rose, both of Kingston College (KC), have been selected for the Under-20 Boys’ 400m.

Holmwood Technical’s Jaydon Collins, who won the Under-17 sprint double at the Carifta Trials, leads the younger boys' squad alongside middle-distance runner Carvel Nooks. The Under-17 Girls’ team features sprinter Adora Campbell and distance runner Kevongaye Fowler.
