A St James businessman who is accused of defrauding a church group of millions of dollars is to return to the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court in January of 2025.

Dominic Shaw, who was featured on the Jamaica Constabulary Force's (JCF) Wanted Wednesday's feature on December 4, is charged with several offences, including fraudulent conversion, relative to the matter.

The Montego Bay, St James resident appeared in court last week, and was remanded in custody.

Reports are that Shaw, who is affiliated with Cheap Travel Vacations and Events, was contacted by representatives of a church in Portmore, St Catherine in February of last year, and was allegedly paid a sum of $3.2 million for a group vacation trip to an all-inclusive hotel in St James.

However, in October of 2023, the church group was informed a few days before the planned trip that the hotel had not receive any money on their behalf.

Shaw was subsequently contacted and he reportedly agreed to return the money, but he failed to do so, this after numerous promises.

The matter was subsequently reported to the police's Fraud Squad.

After several failed attempts to locate Shaw, the police listed him as being wanted for obtaining money by means of false pretence, on December 4.

Days later, Shaw was arrested in St James, and was charged relative to the allegations.
