The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) says strong winds associated with the Cold Front impacting the island have caused power outages in several areas.

These include sections of Hanover, St. Ann, the Corporate Area, St. Catherine and Clarendon.

However, the JPS says it is making every effort to facilitate swift restoration for affected customers.

In an update to IRIE FM news, Media and Public Relations Manager at JPS, Audrey Williams, says the company’s emergency teams are conducting restoration works where it is safe to do so.

JPS is urging members of the public to exercise caution, especially around broken wires, and to report outages or hazards using the JPS mobile app and its social media pages @myjpsonline.

Persons may also call the Customer Care Centre at 888-CALL-JPS.
