The restoration works being undertaken by the Jamaica Public Service JPS are expected to be ramped up, with another 300 linesmen being brought into the country.
This is being facilitated through a US$150m loan agreement signed between the Government and JPS.
Energy Minister Daryl Vaz says the agreement was signed on Friday, after two weeks of intense negotiations.
The discussions involved the Energy and Finance Ministries and the JPS.
The linesmen are expected to be in the island by next week.
Mr. Vaz expects 90% electricity restoration this month and nearly 100% by January.
The energy minister is urging residents to be patient, noting that JPS continues to restore electricity to communities.
