President of the Jamaica Teacher’s Association JTA Mark Malabver, said a letter concerning outstanding increments is expected from the Finance Ministry in short order.
He said this is in addition to an update from the government on a new salary offer for the nation’s educators.
This follows a meeting last Wednesday where several items on the JTA’s list of claims were discussed.
The JTA, as well as the Finance and Education Ministries, have long been engaged in talks over proper compensation for teachers.
Mr. Malabver stated that the letter is expected to provide clarity on how they will proceed.
