JTA urges government dialogue on education crisis and disaster preparedness

The Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) is calling on the government to commence meaningful dialogue around crisis leadership and disaster preparedness in the education sector.
President, Mark Malabver made the call during his back to school message.
According to Mr. Malabver, these steps must be taken even as recovery efforts continue, especially with the impending new hurricane season.
The JTA President has doubled down on the need for long-term implementation of psycho-social support from the Education Ministry.
He said it must not be treated as a temporary or crisis-only intervention, but should be ongoing.
In the meantime, Mr. Malabver says teachers’ well-being must be protected.
