The Jamaica Union of Bartenders and Mixologists Limited (JUBAM) has joined the global celebration of bartenders for International Bartenders’ Day (February 24).

Since the inception of the International Bartenders Association, in Torquay, United Kingdom on February 24, 1951, International Bartenders’ Day has provided an opportunity to recognise these talented service men and women in hospitality across the world.

Jamaica is not excluded from the global activations, either. To commemorate the event, JUBAM has created Jamaica Bartender Week, a celebration of The Rock’s burgeoning bartender industry.

The fourth iteration is slated for March 17-23, under the theme: Mastering the Craft, Excellence in Every Pour.

JUBAM President Dr Debbian Spence-Minott noted that the Jamaica Bartender Week promises a week-long affair celebrating the art of bartending by way of seminars, competitions, and bar tours across the island.

The main objective is to unite Jamaica’s finest bartenders and mixologists to share their expertise while introducing the public to cocktails and mixology.

For this staging, Spence-Minott noted that ‘[JUBAM] invites everyone to join us in celebrating the best of Jamaica's bartending community during this exhilarating week-long event.’

‘We’re delighted’, she continued, ‘that our title sponsor from inception [J Wray and Nephew Limited] continues to see the benefits of this partnership and is back with us as presenting sponsor this year.’
