Kingston Freeport Terminal Limited (KFTL) has extended its operating hours to mitigate any impact from industrial action that disrupted some terminal activities for several hours.
Upset workers withdrew their services last night amidst calls for a bargaining rights poll to be held, as they seek a change in trade union representation.
They returned to their duties this morning, following a meeting with the Labour Ministry.
In a statement, KFTL said that the extended hours, along with other measures implemented, are intended to facilitate the timely processing of cargo and reduce inconvenience to customers and other stakeholders.
The company also noted that it remains committed to addressing the issues through constructive engagement and good-faith discussions with all parties.
It said that it will continue working with the Labour Ministry towards a mutually acceptable resolution.
