Mayor of Kingston Andrew Swaby has urged vendors in own town to desist blocking roadways, following complaints.

He acknowledged the vendors’ contribution to the city’s economy but stressed that consideration must be given, when it comes to safety and access along roadways.

Speaking at the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation monthly meeting on Tuesday, the Mayor noted that first responders have raised concerns about traffic impediments.

Mayor Swaby said measures taken in sections of Downtown are aimed at maintaining public order.

He further stated that an orderly environment augurs well for safety and increased economic activity.
