After a stunning performance on Saturday at the Boyz II Men concert, which also featured Tessanne Chin, Lila Iké is looking forward to growing in even more acclaim with her first solo album expected early next year.
Speaking with Loop News following her set, the reggae songstress said despite being proud of her performance, her quest for greatness pushes her to constantly refine her skills and seek personal development.
“I feel great. I think I did a very good job. [But] I am always a very harsh critic of myself so there are some little points that I wasn’t pleased with but we live and we learn,” she said.
“I am growing everyday. I like to challenge myself to learn something new whether it is a piece of history about music, an instrument or how to take better care of or utilize my voice, I am always trying to advance as a human being first, and naturally, that comes over in the music,” she told Loop News.
Being billed for the concert along with the acclaimed international trio, has also earned her much love and respect from several quarters, particularly her home town, she said.
Born Alecia Grey, Lila Iké hails from,Christiana Manchester and has established herself as a musical powerhouse since launching her career with the Protoje-backed In.Digg.Nation label.
Commenting on her performance via Instagram, the clearly proud and supportive Protoje said: “Ladies and Gentlemen this is what a star looks like.”
Lila is set to release her first solo album shortly.
“I am putting out my second single from the album next month and [by] the top next year, my first solo album should be out,” she said.
