One of four men accused of attempting an armed robbery at a supermarket in Spalding, Manchester earlier this month has escaped police custody.
The fugitive, identified as Shevon Carnagie, of a Clarendon address, reportedly fled the Kingston Public Hospital where he was receiving treatment after an alleged armed confrontation with police last month.
Reports are that about 2 pm on Sunday, December 8, a police team observed a robbery that was about to be carried out at a supermarket in the town, this as men in a motorcar were seen exiting the vehicle with guns, including a rifle, in hand.
The men were accosted by the law enforcers, resulting in a gunfight, during which a policeman was injured, as well as two of the gunmen.
Further reports are that the gunmen then barricaded themselves inside a building for more than two hours.
In a surprising twist, the alleged robbers took to social media platform TikTok at a later stage of the standoff. In a section of a video, the men were heard pleading with the police to spare their lives after they were reached.
The gunmen were arrested and taken into custody.
Four firearms, including an AK-47 assault rifle, were seized by the police after the dramatic incident.
