Man attcked shot dead at party; 36-y-o farme arrested

The police in St James have charged 36-year-old Ryan Bernard, a farmer of Retirement Gutters in St James with murder and using a firearm to commit a elony following an incident at Hampton district in the parish on Saturday, March 8.

The charges relate to the shooting death of 36-year-old Aswaine Thompson, otherwise called ‘Swaine’, a labourer of Hampton district in St James.

According to reports from the Granville Police, at about 4:30 am, Thompson and Bernard were among patrons at a party in the community.

It is alleged that Bernard opened gunfire at Thompson as he sat in a car, hitting him to the head.

Bernard then fled the scene. Thompson was assisted to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

After gathering intelligence, lawmen conducted an operation in the Hampton district community on Monday, March 11, during which Bernard was nabbed at his home. He was subsequently charged.

His court date is being finalised.
