Travis Ellis, the 24-year-old man who is charged with the murder of veteran court reporter Barbara Gayle, is expected to appear in the St Catherine Parish Court on Tuesday.

Along with the murder of Gayle, Ellis is also charged with robbery with aggravation in relation to the same incident.

A post-mortem was conducted on the body of the 77-year-old journalist on Friday, but the findings have not been publicly released by the police.

Reports are that about 11am on Tuesday, December 17, Gayle’s body was found with multiple stab wounds inside her house at Caymanas Country Club in St Catherine.

During the subsequent police investigation, her car was found in the vicinity of Dyke Road in the parish the following day.

Ellis, a resident of Gulf in Gregory Park, St Catherine, was arrested on Wednesday, December 18 in Grange Lane, also in the parish.

Further reports indicate that on the day of Gayle's murder, Ellis allegedly broke into another house at Caymanas Country Club before he was caught on a doorbell camera footage speaking with the journalist.

The police have also charged Ellis in connection to that incident.
