Man remanded re stabbing of ex-gf at St Elizabeth-based college

Adrian Taylor, a farmer who is accused of stabbing his 21-year-old ex-girlfriend during an altercation on the campus of Bethlehem Moravian College in Malvern, St Elizabeth last month, is to return to court relative to the incident on April 14.

The accused, who is also a tiler, and is of Hatfield district in Westmoreland. was remanded in custody when he appeared in the St Elizabeth Parish Court on Thursday.

Taylor is charged with unlawful wounding relative to the dispute. He is said to be in his early 30s.

During court proceedings, the clerk of court revealed to the presiding judge that the case file was is incomplete, which resulted in the matter being pushed back for next month.

Both the complainant, who is a student at the college, and the accused, had been reportedly involved in a common-law relationship.

Reports are that about 11am on February 16, Taylor visited the complainant, and they got into an argument, during which it is alleged that he used a knife to inflict wounds all over the woman’s body.

She was taken to the hospital, where she was treated.

The incident led to a protest by students at the college, who called for better security at the institution. Among their concerns was the need for better fencing and the installation of more CCTV cameras on the campus.
