Marci Fray, the proprietor of the popular Kingston-based eatery Marci Fray’s Salad Bar, has passed away.
Fray died suddenly on Tuesday, according to a heartfelt post shared on her business' Instagram page.
The post, seemingly written by her daughter, expressed shock and deep sorrow over her passing.
“Unfortunately, you left us on February 25, 2025, after a good day of work together filled with laughter and smiles. You left me so suddenly, with no warning. I am proud to call you my mother, my mentor, and my friend," the post read.
The message continued: “Your daughters and grandchildren will continue to carry on your pride, joy, and legacy. I miss you so much, mummy. Why did you have to go? I love you with all my heart, and I know you will be watching over us as we continue to do what we love. Sleep in peace, beautiful.”
The post also thanked loyal customers for their support over the years and assured them that Marci Fray Salads would continue to operate in her memory.
“We ask that you keep us in your prayers and hearts as we navigate this difficult time,” the message concluded.
Fray's business, which has been active on Instagram since August 2018, built a strong following of over 20,000 users. Known for its fresh salads, sandwiches, and signature “Hot Box” lunch special, Marci Fray Salads became a go-to spot for a diverse clientele, including local celebrities and public figures.
