The 7 member jury also found him guilty of preventing the lawful burial of a corpse.

The verdict was handed down in the Home Circuit Court by the seven member jury after a 3 hour and 40 minute deliberation.

He has been in custody since July 2022.

The trial lasted 8 months.

Maitland is to return to court on March 13 to be sentenced.

The constable walked out of the courtroom with his head held down and tears running down his face.

His father sighed and called out to god after the verdict was given.

Meanwhile, Donaldson’s mother Sophia Lugg cried out in the court room.

During an emotional interview, Ms. Lugg said she welcomed the verdict, stating that “victory belongs to us”.
