Owners and operators of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) are being encouraged to attend today’s public meeting at the EXIM Bank in Kingston.

The meeting, which is slated to begin at 1 PM, will be hosted by the Public Procurement Commission (PPC) and the Small Business Association of Jamaica (SBAJ).

The engagement forms part of activities marking World Sustainable Procurement Day, and is aimed at empowering MSMEs.

Speaking with IRIE FM News, SBAJ President Garnett Reid said the meeting will focus on strengthening businesses’ understanding of public procurement processes and enhancing their capacity to access related opportunities.

It follows the Holness administration’s recent decision to reserve 20 per cent of government contracts for MSMEs, under the Public Procurement Set-Aside Framework.

Mr. Reid said members of the MSME sector should take advantage of the meeting and sensitisation session to learn how to bid for government contracts.
