National Security Minister says threats faced by region demand united and coordinated response
Minister of National Security and Peace Dr. Horace Chang has stated that the threats faced by the region demand a united and coordinated response.
He pointed out that small island developing states face particular challenges from organised crime.
Dr Chang made the comments this morning, at the joint inaugural Level 2- Tactical Training Graduation, for officers from the Jamaica Constabulary and the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands TCI police and regiment.
31 officers completed the course.
Dr Chang said through continued partnership the countries can ensure a safer future for their citizens.
Dr Chang stated that the Latin American and Caribbean region continues to record among the highest levels of violent crimes globally.
He pointed to cause for optimism, noting that Jamaica and the TCI recorded reduction in homicides exceeding 40 percent in 2025.
The national security minister underscored the need to have trained officers to deal with gangsters.
