Netball Jamaica has announced a 15-member squad for the Sunshine Series against South Africa, set to take place on January 18, 22, and 25 at the National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston.
The two teams will compete for the Margaret Beckford Trophy.
Ace defender Shamera Sterling-Humphrey has been retained as captain of the Sunshine Girls, who are coming off a strong showing in the Horizon Series against England, where they claimed a 2-1 victory and secured the Rhone Hornsby Trophy.
The squad features a mix of seasoned players and emerging talent, including debutante Brie Grierson, who plays for Nottingham Forest Netball in the English Super League and qualifies for Jamaica through her father.
Head Coach Sasher-Gaye Henry expressed confidence in the squad’s preparation. “We are happy with the squad chosen by the selectors. Shimona is back in the team and is expected to maintain the circle dominance we are accustomed to, and we are just looking for her to gel with Shanice, who had an outstanding Horizon Series,” said Henry.
