The Institute of Jamaica has advised that the nomination period for the Musgrave Medals Award has been extended to December 31.
Awards are issued under three categories – Gold Medal, Silver Medal and Bronze Medal.
The Gold Medal is for individuals who have made an exceptional contribution in the fields of literature, science, or art. The Silver Medal is awarded for outstanding contributions in the same fields, recognising significant achievement and influence.
While the Bronze Medal is awarded for “notable contributions, demonstrating great promise and commitment to the advancement of the arts, sciences, or literature”.
The criteria for nomination include:
Literature: Nominees should have demonstrated excellence in writing, publishing, or literary contribution that has impacted society and culture.
Science: Nominees should have contributed significantly to advancements in scientific knowledge or research, benefiting the community, country, or global society.
Art: Nominees should have shown exceptional skill and impact in the visual or performing arts, creating work that resonates with audiences and which enriches the cultural landscape.
The Institute says Jamaicans should use the opportunity to nominate individuals who have made extraordinary contributions in these fields and deserve to be honoured as true legends.
