Off-duty cop charged following fatal shooting of 40-y-o man at plaza

 Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) officer, Corporal Patrick Williams was placed before the Kingston and St Andrew Gun Court, where he was charged with multiple offences in relation to the off-duty police fatal shooting incident of 40-year-old, Jermaine Richards.

The sister of the slain man has since since spoken out regarding the ruling.

The incident occurred on January 23, in the Ardenne Emirates Plaza located on Ardenne Road, Kingston 10.

Following an investigation by the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM), the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) ruled that Corporal Williams should be charged for the following offences:

Murder, using a firearm to commit a felony, assault, contrary to section 14 (1) of the firearm (Prohibition, Restriction and Regulation) Act;

Assault occasioning actual bodily harm for the striking of a witness to the face;

Assault at common law in relation to the witness;

Using a Firearm to Commit a Felony, to wit: Murder, contrary to Section 14(1) of the Firearm (Prohibition, Restriction and Regulation) Act.

Wilfully making a false statement to an investigator contrary to section 33 of the Independent Commission of Investigations Act

Corporal Williams was granted bail in the sum of $1,000,000.00 with one to two sureties, and reporting conditions.

The next court date is scheduled for April 30, 2025.
