Net financial donations received for hurricane Melissa relief efforts amount to just over 1 billion dollars.
Chief Technical Director, in the office of the prime minister, Wahkeen Murray made the disclosure during today’s meeting of parliament’s Public Administration and Appropriation Committee, PAAC.
She said more than 17,000 donors contributed.
Ms. Murray said millions of the donated funds have been budgeted for roofing material.
She noted that the National Emergency Operations Centre is monitoring and mobilising personnel, as required and that food packages are being distributed on a needs basis.
