People are still waiting to feel real relief from impact of Hurricane Melissa
People are still waiting to feel real relief from the impact of Hurricane Melissa.
That’s according to Opposition Senator Ramon Small-Ferguson.
He was making his contribution to the debate on the Appropriations Bill in the Upper House today.
The Appropriations Bill facilitates withdrawal of money from the Consolidated Fund to meet approved expenditures for the fiscal year.
It translates the Budget Estimates of Expenditure into law, detailing authorized spending for Government Ministries, departments, and services.
Senator Small-Ferguson noted that recovery for persons still reeling from the Category 5 storm should be at the centre of Jamaica’s national response.
He said the 2026/2027 budget does not appear to focus on persons affected by the hurricane.
