Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness is assuring residents of Parottee, St. Elizabeth that the Government has no intention of forcibly removing them from their homes or cutting them off from their livelihoods.

This as it considers options to address the community’s exposure to flooding and other climate risks.

Speaking at the groundbreaking for phase 4 of Luana Gardens in the parish yesterday, Dr. Holness said any proposal to relocate residents would be developed through consultation.

The Prime Minister said the Government is exploring whether or not residents who choose to relocate, could be offered access to housing lots within the planned development at Luana Gardens.

Dr. Holness said he has directed the leadership of the National Reconstruction and Resilience Authority to engage the Housing Agency of Jamaica in securing a number of lots that could be made available to the people of Parottee.
