PM Holness welcomes almost US$7B hurricane recovery and reconstruction package from international partners

Economist Keenan Falconer says Jamaica was able to secure the $USUS6.7 billion package from multilateral partners due to its fiscal credibility.
Five international financial entities have assembled a comprehensive monetary package to strengthen Jamaica’s recovery and reconstruction efforts following the passage of hurricane Melissa.
Speaking with IRIE FM News Mr. Falconer pointed out that Jamaica has been committed to fiscal macro-economic stability for the last couple of years.
He said this is paying off.
He said the package presented will allow the government to rebuild stronger.
Mr. Falconer noted that the resources must be deployed strategically.
