A construction worker has been arrested in relation to the seizure of over $51 million worth of cocaine, during an intelligence led operation at a residence on University Crescent, Papine, in St. Andrew, on Monday.

Reports are that about 11:30 p.m., members of the Specialized Operations Branch, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team executed a warrant at the premises.

A search led to the discovery of several cartons of cocaine.

The Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID) was contacted.

The illicit drug weighed 69 kilograms or 152 pounds.

The suspect, who was the sole occupant of the premises was taken into custody.

He is awaiting formal charges.

His identity is being withheld pending further investigations by FNID.

The JCF said it continues to work with local and international partners to degrade organised crime networks, to amplify their interdiction on illegal narcotics and firearm, to ensure the ongoing security of borders and communities.
