Police investigating suspected suicide of man in Ocho Rios, St Ann

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in Cornpiece Street, Exchange Ocho Rios, St Ann yesterday.

The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old security guard, Tyrone Reid of Highgate, St Mary.

Reports are that Reid went to stay with a friend on Thursday, January 2.

The friend reportedly told investigators that Reid appeared disoriented .

At about 4:30 A.M. yesterday, Reid reportedly went into a bathroom at the residence while armed with a knife.

The friend sensing that something was wrong, sought assistance from neighbours.

During the incident, Reid reportedly sustained serious self-inflicted injuries.

The police were alerted and responded quickly, managing to disarm him.

Reid was rushed to the St Ann’s Bay hospital, where he later succumbed.
