The Jamaica Constabulary says a police officer seen in a viral video in a physical confrontation with an elderly man has been placed on interdiction.
The incident reportedly occurred in Tawes Pen, St. Catherine.
The JCF is assuring the public that this matter is being treated with the utmost urgency and seriousness.
According to the Constabulary, the officer will remain on interdiction — pending the outcome of a thorough investigation, by the Inspectorate and Professional Oversight Bureau (IPROB).
The JCF emphasizes that it does not condone any form of misconduct or abuse of authority by its members.
It adds that the actions depicted in the video do not reflect the professional standards and core values upheld by the organization.
