Police officers desirous of taking on leadership roles in the constabulary force are being encouraged to have some core values as these will make the difference between success and failure.

Among the core values are trust and accountability.

The advice was given by Principal of the University of the West Indies Mona campus Professor Densil Williams.

He was the keynote speaker at the Inspector Development Programme graduation ceremony, yesterday.

Professor Williams pointed to the importance of team members being able to have confidence in what their leaders say or do.

He told the officers that they must be able to hold themselves accountable.
