A 23-year-old postal worker from St Catherine, appeared in the St Catherine Parish Court in Spanish Town yesterday to answer charges of forgery and uttering a forged document.
The allegations stem from an incident involving Grandison's loan application process. According to reports, Grandison required a job letter for the loan application. After requesting the letter from his employer, the postal service, he allegedly became frustrated with the delay and decided to forge the document.
Grandison submitted the forged job letter to the loan agency. However, before the loan could be processed, he received a legitimate letter from the postal service. In an attempt to rectify the situation, he reportedly tried to retrieve the previously submitted forged document. This action raised suspicions at the loan agency, leading to an investigation.
Grandison was subsequently arrested earlier this month and charged. He was granted station bail and made his first court appearance today. During the proceedings, his defence counsel requested disclosure of the matter.
The case has been scheduled for mention on March 25, when further developments are expected.
