Probe as 3 men are shot dead by cops in St James

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM)has launched as investigating into the circumstances of police fatal shooting incidents, which resulted in the death of three men.

The incident occurred on Orange, St James.

Year to date, one hundred and eighty-three (183) persons have been shot and killed by the security forces, of which fifteen (15) were fatally shot in December.

Preliminarily, the police have reported that the Area Fugitive Apprehension Team, attended a premises with a warrant in search of a named person.

It is alleged that three men fired at the police, upon the approach of the officers into the building.

The officers fired in response. The three men were later pronounced dead, and three firearms were reported as recovered from the deceased men.

One man was identified as the subject of the warrant, while the other men remain unidentified.

No body worn cameras were reported as issued or worn during this planned operation.

Officials from INDECOM say they are currently conducting the investigative enquiries to include the examination, processing and packaging of evidential material and bodies of the deceased men.

Persons with information about the identity of the deceased men or general information into the circumstances resulting in the death of the men, are being asked to contact INDECOM.

"Independent witness information is vital in the investigative process. Photos, videos, or information for any incident involving members of the Security Forces, should be made available and shared with INDECOM. This information should be shared via INDECOM’s WhatsApp number (876)553-0000," a release from the organisation stated.
