Prosecution says evidence proves Constable Noel Maitland is responsible for Donna-lee Donaldson’s death
The prosecution in Constable Noel Maitland’s trial says it believes all the evidence presented in court proves that he is responsible for the death of his girlfriend Donna-Lee Donaldson.
Maitland has been charged with the murder of the 24-year-old influencer who was reported missing sometime around July 13, 2022.
He is also charged with preventing the lawful burial of a corpse as Donaldson’s body has not been found.
Today, prosecutors presented their closing arguments in the trial.
They told the seven-member jury in the Home Circuit Court that blood was found in Maitland’s apartment and DNA tests confirmed that the blood found was that of Donaldson’s.
The prosecutors said the evidence points in one direction and one direction only.
The trial which started in May 2025 saw the prosecution calling about 33 witnesses.
While the defence called one character witness who was also a Crown witness.
The defence will present its closing arguments tomorrow.
