Quick thinking of a young girl and action of the police led to the capture and charge of a 22-year-old St Catherine cabinet maker who allegedly lured her to a house in Capture Land, Spanish Town in the parish and sexually assaulted her on Monday, March 03.
Charged with abduction, rape, grievous sexual assault, sexual touching of a child, procuring sexual intercourse and grievous sexual assault by threat is Alex Belight of an
Old Harbour road address.
Reports from the Spanish Town Police are that Belight and the young girl met via a social media platform.
He managed to convince her to exchange sexually explicit videos and threatened to release them if she did not meet with him.
She met with Belight as requested and he took her to the house where he committed the acts.
Whilst being transported to the house the girl contacted the police emergency control centre and a team was immediately dispatched to the location.
Belight was apprehended during the operation and taken into custody. He was subsequently charged on Thursday, March 06 after a question and answer session.
Belight is slated to appear in the St Catherine Parish Court to answer to the charges on Tuesday, March 11.
