The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) has announced two friendly matches for the Reggae Boyz against Trinidad and Tobago, scheduled for next month.
The first match will be held at the Montego Bay Sports Complex on February 6 at 7:30 pm, while the second fixture will take place at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex in Kingston on February 9 at 8:00 pm.
Both teams are using the friendlies as preparation for the Concacaf Gold Cup prelims in March.
Jamaica is set to face St Vincent and the Grenadines for a spot in the Gold Cup group stages, while Trinidad and Tobago will take on Cuba.
JFF president Michael Ricketts emphasized the significance of the matches in the team’s development.
"Our head coach, Mr. McClaren, expressed a desire last year for an opportunity to analyze the domestic-based players on the island, and we have worked diligently to arrange these fixtures and camps leading into these games,” Ricketts said. This is the third consecutive year we have started with games against Trinidad, and each year has been beneficial. In 2023, they prepared us for the Gold Cup and Nations League campaigns, while last year, they proved invaluable ahead of the Nations League and World Cup Qualifiers. This year is no different, as coach McClaren and the technical staff fine-tune preparations for the World Cup Qualifiers, which resume in June."
