RESIDENTS STAGE FIERY PROTEST OFF RED HILLS ROAD OVER FATAL POLICE SHOOTING

There was chaos in the Donmair area, off Red Hills Road in St. Andrew this morning, after residents mounted fiery roadblocks in protest against a police fatal shooting.

Head of the St. Andrew North Police, Superintendent Randy Sweeney told IRIE FM News that a man was shot and killed by the police, during an operation.

The name of the deceased has not been released.

Superintendent Sweeney said a firearm was also recovered from the scene.

He noted that a high police presence is at the location.

He said the blockades, which affected the area from PriceSmart to the KFC outlet along Red Hills Road, have been removed.
