President of the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce (MBCCI) Jason Russell has described the role of the business process outsourcing (BPO) sector's role in steering school leavers away from a life of crime as immeasurable.

He was speaking at Outsource2Jamaica Conference & Expo 2025 cocktails in Montego Bay, St James on Thursday night.

"Not having to turn to a gun, or drugs or anything, but actually can put on decent pair of clothes and go in some air condition [offices], do some work and come back and contribute to your household. We have no way of quantifying how great that is," Russell expressed.

He also lauded the Global Services Association of Jamaica for their immense role in providing opportunities for youngsters leaving high school to be gainfully employed.

"This is an organisation that changes life, an organisation that saves lives," said the MBCCI president.

He added: "While we fight crime and poverty in different sectors of our society I don't think we can truly quantify what this organisation and its members have done for Jamaica and its environs".

Local entrepreneurs are being encouraged to participate in and engage with brokers and buyers during the Outsource2Jamaica 2025 (O2J2025) Conference, slated for the Montego Bay Convention Centre in St James on April 10.

The annual event, to be held under the theme ‘Driving Excellence: Talent Technology and Transformation’, is expected to showcase Jamaica’s immense potential as a hub for business process outsourcing (BPO), knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) and information technology-enabled services (ITES).
