Several roads are to continue being repaired in Trelawny over the coming days under the Government's $2 billion emergency road patching programme.

The disclosure was made by Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation with responsibility for works, Robert Morgan, on Friday.

According to a statement from the ministry, Morgan announced that, "approximately 16,000 kilometres of roads" will undergo repairs across Trelawny, beginning last Wednesday.

"With works commencing on the 15th of January and scheduled to continue until the 22nd (of January), Minister Morgan has explained that this island-wide approach is demonstrative of the Government's commitment to an equitable response to the rehabilitation of roads across Jamaica," the ministry stated.

The scope of works is to include preparatory works ahead of the repairs, asphaltic concrete patching, de-bushing and drain cleaning.

The key roads underway or slated for rehabilitation include:

 • Wakefield - Hampden

 • Wakefield - Friendship

 • Deeside - Dromilly

• Salt Marsh - Kent

• Falmouth - Springvale (Bounty Hall)

• Rock - Stewart Town

• Clarks Town - Jackson Town

The statement said the details of the ongoing projects and schedules will be posted on the sparkjamaica.gov.jm website.

The ministry has encouraged members of the public to monitor patching activities, as well as report their observations regarding the quality and the locations that are being worked on.
