The St. Elizabeth Police are reporting a 50% reduction in overall major crimes.
Head of Operations Deputy Superintendent Adrian Flemming provided the update to Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness yesterday.
According to DSP Flemming the division recorded the reduction at the end of January.
However, he said there has been an increase in murders.
DSP Flemming assured that strategies are being employed to counter crimes.
DSP Flemming also noted that curfews have been imposed in areas with gang activity.
He sought to assure residents that their safety remains a priority.
