Street Forrest to remain as JSE head until a successor is appointed

The Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) has announced that its Managing Director, Dr Marlene Street Forrest, will continue in her current role until the board of directors completes the recruitment process for her successor.

In a statement, the JSE said: “The JSE Board and Dr Marlene Street Forrest are committed to ensuring a smooth transition to maintain the integrity, stability, and continued growth of the organisation.”

The recruitment process is well underway, with the board focused on selecting a candidate who will uphold the JSE’s legacy of innovation and excellence in capital market development, according to the statement.

Dr Street Forrest has led the JSE since 2002, initially serving as general manager before being promoted to managing director in 2017, when she was also granted a seat on the board of directors. During her tenure, she has emphasised transparency and fairness while leveraging technology to enhance market efficiencies.

Under her leadership, the JSE achieved demutualization and launched the US Denominated Market and the Junior Market. She also spearheaded the establishment of the Registrar Division of the Jamaica Central Securities Depository (JCSD) during her time as general manager of this JSE subsidiary.

Before joining the JSE, Dr Street Forrest held senior management roles in various private and public sector organizations in Jamaica and overseas.
