Students and teachers at Jonathan Grant High receive counselling following death of 14 y/o pupil
Students and teachers at the Jonathan Grant High School in St. Catherine today received psychosocial support after a 14-year-old pupil perished in a fire at her home last Wednesday.
Dead is Gabriella Wright of St. John’s Gardens, Spanish Town, St. Catherine.
Reports are that on April 8 at about 4:40 PM, fire gutted Gabriella’s home, killing her.
Her brother , 25-year-old Connie Daley sustained severe burns and remains hospitalised.
Acting Principal of Johnathan Grant High, Cheryll Shippey, said as classes resumed following the Easter break, counselling was provided to the school community.
She said the sessions were conducted by a team from the Education Ministry and other stakeholders.
In the meantime Ms. Shippey revealed that the school has so far given assistance to Gabriella’s mother.
She said the school will also be seeing how best it is able to contribute to Mr. Daley’s treatment.
