So, you've said hello to 2025.

If you haven’t started yet, now is the perfect time to embark on your journey to a healthier, stronger you.

Personal trainer Malik Reid shares with Loop that taking the first step toward fitness doesn’t require a pricey gym membership. In fact, you can kickstart your wellness routine from the comfort of your home.

"I encourage anyone who wants to start their fitness journey to start small. Focus on the small things, then everything else will fall in place," Reid advises.

The 23-year-old trainer --- who's also a masseuse and chef --- is presently in his third year studying sports medicine at the University of Technology Jamaica and attained online certification in strength and conditioning, nutrition and personal training during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Learn how to develop a fitter you, as Reid gives us a walk-through on executing wall sits, squat-to-calf raises, plank push-ups, superman exercises, and flutter kicks.

"These five exercises, if followed consistently, will allow your body to build foundational strength in the key areas, mainly the core, hips and back," he explained. "These muscle groups are vital in all aspects of fitness and will allow your body to be better able to manage more advanced exercises.  The five exercises [being demonstrated] all target different muscle groups so over time you'll see changes in your overall physique."
