Three men were fatally shot during a reported shootout with the police along Windward Road, Kingston on Sunday.
Two firearms were also recovered during the incident.
Reports are that a police man was also injured during the confrontation.
Reports from the police are that a team of officers were on mobile patrol along Windward Road vicinity premises #81 when they observed men walking in the road way which arose the officer’s suspicion.
The police team stopped and alighted from the unit giving verbal instructions to the men not move, the men then pulled firearms and opened gunfire at the team of policemen.
The police took evasive action and returned gunfire. When the shooting subsided, all three men were seen suffering from gunshot wounds with two firearms beside them.
A member of the police was also observed to have sustained gunshot injuries to his left ankle.
The firearms were retrieved and found to be one(1) Sig Sauer 9mm pistol with a containing nine (9) 9mm cartridges and one (1) Ruger 9mm pistol with a magazine containing no rounds.
All injured persons were rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital where the police man was treated and released.
The other injured men were pronounced dead.
